Learn-to-Do Labs are three days in length. Participants will work in multiple small groups, each of which will be assigned a faculty member who has digital expertise.

Participants learn by doing, so groups will be assigned a mock digital project. The goal is to help you learn the language, and identify the different skills, costs and timelines involved in bringing a digital project to life.

Over the three days, you will go through the various stages of building a digital project on paper. These include:

  • Ideation: Flesh out your idea. How does it work? Who is it for? Why is being done this way? What do you want to accomplish?

  • Specifications: Build a blueprint covering all aspects of your project.

  • Development: How can you bring your project to life? Plot out the who, what and why of actually building your digital project.

  • Launch: What are the steps and processes involved in testing and launching a digital project?

  • Post-Launch or Run of Show: Sometimes, the aftermath can be the most labour intensive part of a project. What happens after you go live?

Your faculty will provide a road map to each day’s work, and the expertise you need to move from step to step. As well, each small group reports out to the larger group, so you’ll learn from the work being done in tandem on the other projects.

Attend if you are interested in learning more about digital projects.  This is an excellent way to gain confidence in how digital projects work, which in turn will help you define projects you might want to take on.
